2025 General Election Vote Results

Chet kw’enmantúmi (we thank you) to our community members for casting your vote in the General Election. There were 1420 Squamish People who voted in the election, representing 44% of the eligible voters. As a result, we have elected our chairperson, council and band manager for the next four years. By returning to 16 elected councillors, it reflects the origins of our Nation when 16 families decided they were stronger together and amalgamated in 1923.

Although Bianca Cameron (Joseph) received 642 votes to be elected, her sister Sandy Lafontaine received more votes. Under the new law in the Squamish Nation Election and Referendum Law, immediate family members cannot hold two positions on Council. The immediate family member who receives the higher number of votes is declared elected.
